Top Ten Tuesday: Characters I’d Follow on Social Media!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Hello! It’s time for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday and today’s theme is characters I’d follow on social media which is so fun! So without further ado here are the ten characters whose instagram/twitter I would be absolutely obsessed with!

1. Elizabeth Bennet in Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen

Why:

She is one of my favourite characters and I think Elizabeth’s humour and wit would be awesome on twitter especially. I also feel like she would have loads of fascinating views on the society we live in!

2. Izzy O’Neill in The Exact Opposite of Okay by Laura Steven

Why:

Izzy is such a brilliant young character and I think her social media would be equally interesting. She is a fierce feminist which I am 100% there for and her tweets would be full of sass and fun.

3. Matthew Clairmont from A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

Why:

Matthew is one of my major book boyfriend crushes. He is the epitome of elegance and I would be hoping for some handsome, classy and brooding instagram photos!

4. Nina Zenik from Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Why:

I absolutely love Nina, her confidence and charm is so appealing and I just think she’d be an awesome friend whose social media would be phenomenal.

5. Albus Dumbledore from Harry Potter by JK Rowling

Why:

How weirdly wonderful would Albus Dumbledore be on social media? He is such a fascinating character and so wise whilst also being pretty fabulously odd and individual. His insight on today’s world would be so interesting!

6. Amy Dunne from Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

img_6759

Why:

I mean, yeah, she’s a terrible human being but her social media would be awesomely biting and sharp – she would definitely win any social media spat!

7. Emma Woodhouse from Emma by Jane Austen

img_6765

Why:

Emma is in my head at the moment because I went to see the movie this weekend and it was AMAZING! Plus it reminded me of how much I love Emma as a character – I think she’s my favourite Austen leading lady and that is because of her charismatic yet meddling personality and essentially fun, good nature. I would love to follow her on social media.

8. Susan Green from The Cactus by Sarah Haywood

img_6762

Why:

I’ve been listening to the audiobook of this quirky and brilliant book and I think the main character, Susan, would be incredibly amusing on social media. She has very little patience for people in general and although she is certainly prickly (hence the title of the book) she is also a character I am getting very fond of!

9. Sherlock Holmes from Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle

img_6763

Why:

Sherlock would be so fun to follow on social media plus I feel like his character would totally embrace it. He is such an iconic character, and his opinions would be so intriguing!

10. Amy March from Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

img_6761

Why:

I love all of the March sisters and my favourite has to be Jo but I’ve actually got a bit of a soft spot for Amy and I think her instagram would be totally on point!

Well that’s it for today – the ten characters I would love to follow on social media! I would love to hear your thoughts on my choices – are there any you agree/disagree with? Lets chat in the comments and please feel free to leave a link to your own Top Ten Tuesday -can’t wait to read them all!

These are some great characters! I didn’t even think of classic characters like Elizabeth or Amy, but they would be amazing to follow online. And you’re so right about Dumbledore being hilarious on social media, I can just picture it 😂

Great list! Amy and Jo would both be amazing, but I agree, Amy probably has the makings of an awesome internet influencer. I thought about Matthew Claremont for my list — I don’t know why I didn’t include him! He’s got so many years of great stories to share.
