Top Ten Tuesday: Book Characters I’d Love To Be Besties With!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Hello! So, this weeks Top Ten Tuesday is a fun one! We are discussing characters I’d like to be bookish besties with. I have come up with ten, although there are loads more I’ve probably forgotten! I hope you enjoy reading about my choices!

1. Fred and George from The Harry Potter Books by JK Rowling

I mean, honestly, there are rather a lot of Harry Potter characters I’d love to be friends with but I do think Fred and George would be the most fun to hang out with. I love their wittiness and I think they’d keep me laughing non-stop!

2. Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling

I love Luna’s character, I think her confidence to be exactly who she is despite people making fun of her is awesome. She would definitely be an interesting person to hang out with and she is so loyal to her friends which I appreciate.

3. Starr from The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

I would really love to be friends with Starr. She is such a relatable character and her bravery is so admirable. Whilst reading The Hate U Give I certainly thought more than once that Starr would be a fantastic bestie!

4. Jo from Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

I am a huge fan of Little Women and I like all four of the March sisters for different reasons, but I think Jo is the one I most closely connect with. She is smart and tough and I would love to spend time with her discussing books, plays and cultural things!

5. Jesper from Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

Honestly, I want to be friends with the whole Six of Crows crew but if I had to narrow it down, I’d have to go with Jesper. To start with I just think he’d be great chat! He’s sarcastic and hilarious and I think he would always keep me entertained.

6. Nina from Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

Nina is just so fantastically sassy that I would love to be besties with her. She is clearly a feminist and supports her female friends which is exactly the sort of woman I’d want to be around. I also think she would be good fun and a laugh to chill out with.

7. Tiffy and Leon from The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary

I was so completely charmed by The Flatshare and a big part of the reason why is how intensely likeable the two main characters are. Tiffy and Leon are very different but I think they would both make great friends. Tiffy’s quirkiness is awesome and Leon’s quiet kindness is so lovely.

8. Willem from A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara

A Little Life destroyed me emotionally and consequently it’s a book I think about frequently. Willem is one of the four main characters and I would love to be his friend. He has this innate goodness and a kindness about him that I think would make him a bestie to treasure.

9. Finnick from The Hunger Games Series by Suzanne Collins

When I read The Hunger Games series, Finnick was one of my favourite characters. I would really like to be friends with a lot of the characters in these books but Finnick’s wit and charm put him at the very top of my list!

10. Jeffrey Tolliver from The Grant County Series by Karin Slaughter

The Grant County series is probably my favourite crime series and in my view Karin Slaughter is one of the very best crime writers. I got so attached to these characters. Jeffrey is strong, smart and eminently capable and if I was in a dangerous situation I would totally want him by my side (or in front of me so I could hide behind him).

Well that’s it – my top ten characters I would love to be bookish besties with. I would love to know what you think of my choices so lets chat in the comments! I can’t wait to read all of your amazing lists too!

You have written such a good blogpost! I have some options that you chose that I totally agree with.
Luna is amazing, because she is herself and doesn’t care what others think about her.

And JEFFREY from the Grant County series. YES! Finally someone that I can fangirl with, about this series. I’ve finished reading the series in 2017… Did you read the last book…. ?
