May has always been the good girl, the rule follower.

But even good girls have secrets.

When she reunites with her two best friends for a holiday in the Hamptons, a drunken joke lands the trio in the middle of a missing persons investigation.

As the case takes a deadly turn, and long buried secrets are uncovered, the three friends are suddenly unsure who they can trust, least of all each other.

Review:

I read The Girl She Was by Alafair Burke a while back and loved it so I was thrilled to read The Note, and it was just as fantastic as I’d expected from Burke. This is a whip smart, incredibly compelling and nuanced book about loyalty, trust, friendship and lies which I was captivated by from the get go. The three women at the heart of The Note and their complicated bonds with each other is perfectly crafted. I found each of them intriguing and satisfyingly layered in a way that had me completely invested in the strange and dark situation they find themselves in after a seemingly ‘harmless’ prank. The entire set up of the Hamptons getaway for these three women, each notorious in their own way in the wider public eye is utterly fascinating and unfolds in a manner that it’s genuinely hard to look away from. I really couldn’t recommend The Note highly enough. I love the way Alafair Burke writes, with an intelligence and depth that elevates this twisted story beautifully. If you are looking for a clever and addictive thriller then I strongly suggest adding The Note to your TBR. I loved it.

Huge thanks to Faber books for having me on the tour and providing a copy of the book. My review is entirely my own honest opinion.
