Summary:

Twenty years ago, a group of students each wrote themselves a letter – Dear Future Me – confiding their deepest dreams and their very darkest secrets.

Now the letters, thought long discarded, have begun to drop through letterboxes. For some they will make them re-evaluate the decisions they’ve made, the person they could have been.

For others, the letters could be deadly . . .

A compulsively gripping thriller of regret, hidden secrets and the deepest betrayal, Dear Future Me is the unmissable new book from the lauded author of The Dangerous Kind and The Captive.

Review:

This was such an intriguing concept for a thriller and honestly, it worked so well! I loved the idea of past hopes, dreams and secrets coming back to haunt people in the form of a letter from their younger self. Dear Future Me starts with a bang and then it’s more of a fantastic slow burn that unravels as main character Audrey tries to work out why her best friend seemingly had such a visceral and shocking reaction to receiving her Dear Future Me letter. Audrey is a really compelling lead character – I liked her determination and it was tough seeing how the things she had hoped for and worked for as a teenager had failed to materialise because of both circumstance and the actions of others. The story takes the reader on a bit of a journey through this group of schoolmates and, whilst there is a lot going on, it all felt well paced and like everything made sense as it was slowly revealed – even the twists I didn’t see coming. Dear Future Me is a compulsive, entertaining and satisfying thriller that executes a fabulous concept very well! Full of past betrayals, lies and twisted secrets – this is a great summer thriller that I would recommend.

Huge thanks to Tracy Fenton of Compulsive Readers and the publisher for my place on this tour and for the copy of the book. My review is entirely my own honest opinion.
