Review:
An Evil Mind is a little bit of a departure from the usual formula of the Robert Hunter Series and I have to say, I think it’s my favourite in the series so far. In this book, Robert is called away from LA to Quantico by the FBI to face a potentially hyper-deadly serial killer with whom he has a history. It puts him in a kind of head to head game of wits and manipulation with a terrifyingly evil foe and I seriously enjoyed it. At the start of the book the author notes that this book is directly inspired by his criminal psychology past which gives the whole thing a real resonance and even more impact as we are taken into a very dark and dangerous world of diabolical evil. We also get to know a bit more and more of Hunter’s personal history which is always fascinating as it makes it clear why he is the person he is. As with the rest of this series, the narrative is punchy and races along making a long book seem really quite short. I really enjoyed this very psychologically-leaning thriller and I’m looking forward to diving into the next in the series.
