Review:

This was another propulsive and punchy thriller in the Robert Hunter series, of which Written in Blood is the 11th instalment. This one involves another terrifying villain and an intriguing plot device in the form of a journal belonging to this villain finding its way first into the hands of a pickpocket and then to Detective Robert Hunter who has to attempt to apprehend the killer before he continues his campaign of horror – and protect the pickpocket from the killers wrath. I liked the journal aspect a lot – it added a sense of high suspense which worked well for the narrative. As usual, Robert is trying to uncover the true motive of the killer and their methodology at the same time and it was good to be back with him and Garcia in another twisted and gruesome tale. Overall, Written in Blood was fast, furious and full of intensity from the start to end.
