Siobhan’s Questions:
1. When do you know that you should give up on a series you may not like but feel like you need to read ( for bragging rights)?
I can usually tell pretty early on if I’m going to like a series or not but I find it really difficult to DNF a book! Mostly because I usually feel I can only fairly review a book if I read the whole thing and as the question states sometimes I want to have read a series because others love it so much and for bragging rights! I’m trying to think of series I have given up on now and the first that springs to mind is Fifty Shades of Grey which I gave up on after the first book (I could harp on about the many reasons I think it’s awful but I won’t because it would take sooo long) and I also gave up on the Twilight series after reading the first couple of books. Basically I can’t stand cheesiness in romance, bad writing of female characters and characters who irritate me too much for me to continue reading about them. Back to the question though – I think if you’re not enjoying a series at all after the first book then it’s really not worth continuing it (even for bragging rights) because there are so many other great series to try!
2. Which beloved book couple do you hate the most? Why?
This relates to the first question a bit because one couple I hate has to be Christian and Ana from Fifty Shades. She is beyond annoying and he’s a controlling pain in the backside. Their whole relationship is everything I find irritating in books. I’m not sure if they even count as a beloved book couple but clearly someone likes them going by the insanely high sales. I also find Anna Karenina and Count Vronsky a little annoying. Don’t get me wrong, I think Anna Karenina is a phenomenal book but their relationship never feels authentic to me, I just don’t really totally buy into their love as worth all the consequences.
3. Which book are you anticipating the most to read?
Oooh this is an excellent question! I’m anticipating so many books at the moment but I will try and narrow it down a bit. One book that I’m desperately looking forward to reading is The Silence of the Girls by Pat Barker which comes out 30th August.
The book is about the women of The Trojan War and how their voices have been silenced in stories about the war. I am a huge fan of Greek Mythology and I have been fascinated by the Trojan War for years so this book is right up my street and sounds like a really intelligent take on the history and mythology involved.
My Questions:
- If you could pick any book character to be your best friend, who would you pick and why?
- Which book genre, if any, do you really dislike?
- What is the first book that you remember falling in love with?
I will nominate some lovely book bloggers below – sorry if you’ve already done it!

Congrats on your award! ❤
I relate so much to finding it impossibly hard to DNF a book – though I feel like I should do it more often, because I could devote that time to books I might actually really like …
Thank you so much for the nomination! ❤
