Twenty Questions Tag!

Hello lovely readers! So I was tagged for this one by the fantastic Siobhan’s Novelties and it looks really fun so here goes!

1. How many books is too many in a series?

This is a tricky one because it depends on the series really! The thing I don’t like is when the author has no end in sight and is just kind of stringing the readers along. However if the author knows exactly when and how things are going to definitely end then I don’t mind too much how long it takes to get there. A good number is 8 for a complex series but I do like trilogies as well because three is enough to build a story arc without being ridiculously long!

2. How do you feel about cliffhangers?

I don’t mind them if they are well executed but in general I find them a little bit irritating.

3. Hardback or Paperback?

I think paperbacks are easier to read and carry around BUT I love how gorgeous hardbacks look on my bookshelf! So overall I’m going with hardbacks because of their aesthetic appeal.

4. Favourite book?

I have loads that I absolutely adore but if I had to pick one I would go with The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. It’s phenomenal.

5. Least favourite book?

I really did not get or like The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera when I read it years ago and I am not a fan of Mockingjay in the Hunger Games Series as I felt it was rushed and didn’t do the characters justice.

6. Love Trianges – yes or no?

I’m not crazy about them – they get a bit annoying frankly!

7. The most recent book you couldn’t finish?

In general I don’t really DNF books at all so I cannot honestly remember what the last book that I really couldn’t finish was.

8. A book you’re currently reading?

I just started Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli which I feel I’m super late to the party on but I’m excited to finally be reading it.

9. The last book you recommended to someone?

I recently recommended Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë as a great classic for someone who wants to start reading them. It’s one of my all time favourites.

10. The oldest book you’ve read?

Gosh I’m not totally sure – I think it’s probably Pride and Prejudice.

11. Newest book you’ve read?

I just finished Pieces of Her by Karin Slaughter which isn’t published until the 9th August here in the UK so that must be the newest book I’ve read – it was fantastic too.

12. Favourite author?

I have a few: JK Rowling, Fredrik Backman, Karin Slaughter, Charlotte Brontë, Jane Austen and Madeline Miller.

13. Buying books or borrowing books?

Definitely buying – I have a total book buying addiction – it’s ridiculous how many I own that I haven’t read yet but I can’t stop buying more!

14. A book you dislike that everyone seems to love?

I really wasn’t a fan of It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover which everyone else seems to adore. Romance isn’t my thing at all though so that may be part of the reason but I just don’t completely get the love for it in any way if I’m being honest.

15. Bookmarks or dog ears?

Bookmarks – I love collecting them!

16. A book you can always reread?

I will never tire of rereading Harry Potter ever – the whole series is like a giant comfort blanket to me.

17. Can you read while listening to music?

Yes – I like to have a bit of background noise whilst reading as I find total silence off-putting.

18. One POV or multiple POV’s? (POV = Point of View)

I honestly don’t have a preference – whatever works best for the story is what I prefer.

19. Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

Most books I read over multiple days. I have occasionally read a book in one sitting but it doesn’t happen all that often.

20. A book you’ve read because of the cover?

I read Asking for It by Louise O’Neill because the cover was really affecting – It’s an interesting and relevant book which I would recommend.
