Review:

So this is the first book I’ve read by Mari Hannah even though it is actually the latest instalment of the series featuring DCI Kate Daniels – but that didn’t stop me from instantly liking the determined and tough detective. The story follows Kate as she attends a particularly horrific crime scene and finds a note, supposedly from the dead victim, which entreats Kate to apprehend the perpetrator and as her last request, to ‘find Aaron’. Kate dives headfirst into a relentless and dangerous search for the mysterious Aaron and soon finds herself and her team at risk of ending up a victim of a malicious and powerful enemy.

I think this is a book that would very much appeal to any fans of the police procedural. It is brilliantly detailed about how a murder investigation progresses. I really enjoyed all the elements and characters that make up Kate‘s police team – especially her relationships with her work partner Hank and her romantic partner Jo, who is also a member of the team. It’s definitely not essential to have read the previous books in the series to fully appreciate Her Last Request but I’ll absolutely be reading them in the future! This is a well paced, addictive and tension filled story that I would completely recommend.

★★★★☆

I kindly received a copy of the book from the publisher. My review is entirely my own honest opinion.
